The winter is obviously quieter, but that's quiet only relative to the summer scramble, so you still need to get your bookings right.

Once you pick the time of year you want to go, get your accommodation picked, and check that they have space at the same time the coincides with your tee times! That may sound obvious, but it is not amusing to get your course time booked only to find that you can't get accommodation.

Also, it will make things easier on your mind if you are aware of the extra costs that can mount up. Golf is a huge money making machine, and the folks at Pebble Beach are certainly not shy when it comes to taking it. Be aware that if you stay in the resort, even the cheapest accommodation will add on a daily 'resort fee' of $20. Quite what this is for is unsure, but it is the little add ons like this which can cause a shock if you are unaware.

You can also expect to find that internet access is not freely provided, that's another extra charge.
