Ocean Beach is located in San Diego on the Southern Californian coast, and it's a surfing magnet. The surfing community likes to maintain an easy going, down to earth, independent feel, and this certainly fits in with Ocean Beach.


The area is fiercely proud of the independent or family run businesses, so much so that there was a protest against Starbucks opening a branch there a few years ago. The Starbucks opened, of course, but the protest sums up the area.

Ocean Beach all inclusive vacations conjures up an image of sitting by the hotel pool, looking over the balcony or delving into the mini bar, because at all inclusive resorts that's exactly what you do.

The problem is that Ocean Beach is not what you would really class a resort. The typical foggy Californian weather, the strong tides and cold water is not a combination to draw the tourist market, and an all inclusive resort really needs a tourist market.

In fact the tides at Ocean Beach are so strong that even experienced surfers and swimmers have been swept away to lose their lives there.
That hardly ties in with any image you would see on an all inclusive brochure. The fact that Ocean Beach does not try to hide the facts merely goes to sum up the honest and open appeal of the place.

Yes, there are hotels in Ocean Beach of course but they are smaller scale affairs, family run hotels, bed & breakfasts, and hostels.

Really people do come to the area for the surfing. There are other areas along the same coast which you would indeed class as resorts, much better suited to finding all inclusive vacations.

The main pulls of Ocean Beach, apart from the surf itself, are the dog beach which is specifically designed to allow dogs to run and play free, and the pier.

The pier stretches half a mile into the sea, and a walk along it will have you passing a lot of people fishing - you don't need a normal Californian permit to fish from it.

So to sum up, Ocean Beach all inclusive beach vacations are not really on the agenda - you either go there for a more earthy experience, of you go elsewhere for the all inclusive.
